Tyran Stokes could make college decision at McDonald’s All-American Game

The No. 1 overall player in the 2026 class, Tyran Stokes, may announce his college commitment at the McDonald’s All-American Game on Tuesday, March 31, in Glendale, Arizona, according to Joe Tipton of On3.

Kansas is still viewed as the leader in the recruitment, though uncertainty surrounding Bill Self’s future with the Jayhawks could shake things up. Self’s potential retirement due to health concerns may impact Stokes’ decision, opening the door for Kentucky to make a push.

Tipton noted that the only other school he’s hearing about in Stokes’ recruitment is Kentucky. If Kansas falls out of the picture, the Wildcats could be the program to watch.

Back in the fall, it appeared Kentucky had all the momentum, and with the 6-7 small forward also signing a deal with Nike, everything pointed toward the Cats.

Since then, however, Kansas has gotten nearly all of the buzz in this recruitment, so much so that it would be an upset if Kentucky were to win out, especially if Self returns next season. His potential retirement may be the only thing keeping Kentucky alive in this recruitment.

Stokes has kept his recruitment process extremely private, making a potential March 31 announcement highly anticipated among fans and analysts. With both Kansas and Kentucky closely monitoring his decision, the announcement could have a major impact on how aggressively the Wildcats pursue the transfer portal.

Although the date is not confirmed, it could be delayed further. Every time it has appeared that Stokes would make a decision, he has postponed it, extending the recruitment timeline even longer.
