At the beginning of the week, the Saint Mary’s Gaels lost head coach Randy Bennett, as he was hired by the Arizona State Sun Devils. One day later, they lost top forward Paulius Murauskas to the transfer portal. The Gaels were dealt yet another hit on Wednesday, as star guard Mikey Lewis will join Murauskas with plans of entering the portal, per On3’s Joe Tipton.
Lewis was a first-team All-WCC selection during the 2025-26 season, finishing second on the team in scoring (13.9 points), while adding 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He converted on 39.8% of his field goals from the floor and 36.8% from beyond the arc, proving himself as one of the Gaels’ top three-point shooters.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound sophomore started all 33 games for Saint Mary’s, leaving a massive hole in the starting lineup with his departure.
As a true freshman, Lewis was a key bench piece for the Gaels in averaging 8.2 points in 15.9 minutes per game after arriving as a three-star recruit. He blossomed as a sophomore, becoming one of the best players in the WCC and helping lead Saint Mary’s to the NCAA tournament.
With Bennett being hired by the Sun Devils, Arizona State is considered the top program for Lewis to land with, where he’ll have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
