Another massive blow hit the Oregon Ducks’ men’s basketball program on Tuesday.
A day after the news that star forward Kwame Evans Jr. would be entering the transfer portal, the Ducks’ biggest star, point guard Jackson Shelstad, announced that he would be transferring this offseason as well.

Shelstad, a local kid from West Linn, Oregon, played for three seasons at Oregon and became a fan favorite as the “next great” point guard for the Ducks, following in the footsteps of Payton Pritchard, who also attended Shelstad’s high school.
However, he sat out most of the 2025-26 season with a hand injury, playing in only 12 games, where he averaged 15.6 points and 4.9 assists per game. In his three years at Oregon, Shelstad averaged 13.6 points and 3.0 assists per game, shooting 35.2% from beyond the arc.
As a former 5-star recruit, rated as the No. 24 overall player in the 2023 class, there have long been high expectations for Shelstad, with many projecting an NBA career for him. However, he hasn’t quite seen his stock rise to that level thus far at Oregon, with the Ducks struggling to put the peices together and make a deep tournament run over the past few years.
For the first time in Dana Altman’s career at Oregon, the Ducks failed to win more than 20 games this year, going 12-20 and missing the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the last eight years.
