Oregon Ducks basketball star Kwame Evans to enter transfer portal

The first major outgoing has hit the Oregon Ducks basketball program following a disappointing 2026 season in Eugene.

On Monday, it was reported by On3’s Joe Tipton that star small forward Kwame Evans, a former 5-star recruit, was planning to enter the portal for his final year of eligibility at the college level. Evans was among the top players for the Ducks this year, averaging 13.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

In his three-year career in Eugene, Evans has made great strides, becoming a core piece of the roster. He has averaged 8.7 points and 5.6 rebounds in his three seasons playing under Dana Altman. Evans joined the Ducks in 2023 as the No. 18 player in the nation.

Now, with the portal season almost in full swing for the college basketball world, Evans is expected to be among the most sought-after players, as he looks to find a title contender to play for before making the jump to the NBA level.

This likely will not be the last high-profile transfer that the Ducks experience this offseason after an incredibly tough season in Eugene. For the first time in Altman’s career at Oregon, the Ducks won fewer than 20 games, finishing the year at 12-20. They also missed out on the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2023, and just the third time in the last eight years.
