Five key stats from Auburn’s 91-85 second round NIT win over Seattle U

On Sunday night, the Auburn Tigers won their way into the quarterfinals of the 2026 NIT. Auburn defeated Seattle U of the WCC 91-85, a game where they led for 91% of the contest. It was another superb offensive performance by Kevin Overton, where he scored 23 points.

Auburn will now prepare for its final home game of the season when they host Nevada in the quarterfinals of the NIT. Nevada defeated Liberty on Saturday night, 73-63. The winner will advance to the semifinals of the NIT with a chance of winning a championship.

Kevin Overton’s great shooting continues

The MVP for the Auburn Tigers in the NIT has been Kevin Overton. He has led the Tigers in scoring with a combined 44 points and has connected on 11 of 22 three-point shots. Like against South Alabama he saved his best for the second half. Overton had a solid first half with seven points, but added 16 in the second half as the Tigers created some distance between them and the Redhawks.

Elyjah Freeman big second half

Overton was not the only Auburn player with a big second half. Forward Elyjah Freeman played well in the final 20 minutes of game time by scoring 13 of his 16 points. He was perfect from long range going four for four.

Auburn wins the rebounding battle

Auburn had a major advantage by winning the rebounding battle 41-23. Keyshawn Hall led the way for the Tigers with 15 rebounds showing he could be effective when not scoring a lot of points. Auburn also won the battle of offensive rebounds with a 10-1 advantage. Filip Jovic was active all game with three offensive rebounds.

Paint scoring

Auburn scored 42% of their points in the paint with 38 versus just 24 for Seattle U. That included 10 dunks and 22 layups. In the paint is where Sebastian Williams-Adams did most of his damage with his 15 points in the game.
