Who will fill out the rest of the Sweet 16?

The first weekend of the 2026 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament concludes Sunday, and two blue-blood matchups in the East Region come into focus.

No. 4 Kansas meets No. 5 St. John’s in a second-round matchup featuring coaches Bill Self and Rick Pitino. No. 2 UConn takes on No. 7 UCLA in another huge second-round matchup with coaches Dan Hurley and Mick Cronin. Will the Big East get a sweep in those matchups?

No. 1 Florida and No. 1 Arizona will look to advance to the Sweet 16 after blowout victories in the first round. Chalk has dominated the tournament to this point. Will the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds – which also includes Purdue and Iowa State – keep that narrative spinning heading into the second weekend?

March Madness picks, predictions for Round 2

No. 2 Purdue (-7.5) vs. No. 7 Miami (West),  12:10 p.m., CBS 

Will Miami disrupt Purdue’s efficiency on both ends of the floor? The Boilermakers average 22.2 assists per game and are allowing just 67 points per game through a five-game win streak. Miami point guard Tre Donaldson faced Purdue three times last year while at Michigan – so the matchup with all-time assists leader Braden Smith is exciting. Malik Reneau needs to have another monster game for Miami to pull the upset. The Hurricanes are 7-3 ATS as an underdog of 10 points or less.

Pick: Purdue 78, Miami 74

No. 2 Iowa State (-4.5) vs. No. 7 Kentucky (Midwest), 2:45 p.m., CBS
