NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Friday Round One Gamethread

Day one is in the books and it was fun. Now as we kick around and wait for Clemson to take on Iowa tonight it is time to pregame and enjoy all of the other Friday action.

If you’re not sure which games to watch, Ryan has you covered with some of his top picks for today, along with a preview of the ACC teams in the tournament. Full schedule is at the bottom for you to pick your favorite games to watch.

No. 5 Texas Tech vs. No. 12 Akron | 12:40 p.m. ET | TruTV – Texas Tech is without star player JT Toppin. Akron is the MAC team that’s actually better than Miami of Ohio. This is the best bet for a 5-12 upset.

No. 6 Tennessee vs. No. 11 Miami (OH) |4:25 p.m. ET | TBS – There was a lot of debate about how good the Redhawks really were. They proved their 31-0 meant something by beating SMU. The Mustangs had been reeling since the BJ Edwards injury though. A win against Tennessee would make them a sensation.

No. 8 Clemson vs. No. 9 Iowa |6:50 p.m. ET | TNT – A win would make the season for the Clemson Tigers. A loss would bring out the Brownell haters. I don’t have to sell this one to you. Neither is likely to beat the 1-seed Florida Gators so this is essentially the Super Bowl. Bennett Sturtz will be exciting to watch and the final victory for RJ Godfrey — one of Clemson’s most likeable veterans — will be emotional.

No. 4 Kansas vs. No. 13 Cal Baptist | 9:45 p.m. ET | CBS – If you need a late night game, let’s see if Cal Baptist can stick around. If not, hit the bed, and if so you’ve got a fun upset special.
