The Michigan Wolverines officially have their first-round opponent in the NCAA Tournament, as Howard defeated UMBC on Tuesday night in the play-in game to advance to the Round of 64.
Michigan and Howard will tip-off in Buffalo, New York on Thursday at 7:10 p.m. ET on CBS. Wolverine fans are in for a treat, as Brian Anderson and Jim Jackson will be on the call for the game. I’m a big fan of Anderson’s — he is one of the best play-by-play broadcasters in the game in my book.

The Howard Bison enter the matchup with a 24-10 overall record and earned its spot in the tournament after beating North Carolina Central, 70-63, in the MEAC Tournament Championship Game, and then taking down UMBC, 86-83, on Tuesday night in Dayton.
Howard is led by a veteran group of guards in junior Cedric Taylor III and senior Bryce Harris. Both of them average 17.1 points per game, but Harris is the bigger shooting threat, as he converts on 48.4 percent of his field goals and 37.4 percent of his three-pointers. Taylor, meanwhile, shoots 45.4 percent from the field and just 28.0 percent from beyond the arc.
The Bison are a relatively small team, as their biggest player, freshman center Danas Kazakevičius, is listed at 6-foot-10. Michigan should look to take advantage of that by feeding Aday Mara and Morez Johnson Jr. in the post.
Should the Wolverines beat the Bison, they will play the winner of 8-seed Georgia and 9-seed Saint Louis in the Round of 32 at a to-be-announced time on Saturday, with a spot in the Sweet Sixteen in Chicago on the line.
