Final 68-team bracketology for 2026 Women’s NCAA Tournament

Two events occurred on Saturday in women’s college basketball that made the NCAA Tournament picture a bit clearer.

First, the selection committee unveiled its top 16 seeds — in alphabetical order — allowing host sites an extra day to prepare and giving fans time to make travel arrangements. This is the first time the top 16 has been unveiled a day before Selection Sunday.

While we don’t know exactly where teams like West Virginia, North Carolina and Minnesota will be seeded, we know that they’ll have games on their campus during the opening weekend of March Madness, and schools like Kentucky, Maryland and Michigan State won’t.

The second event was the title game of Ivy Madness, where Princeton beat Harvard for the Ivy League crown. Teams like Richmond and several in the ACC and Big 12, let out a sigh of relief as a bid-stealing situation was avoided.

Had the Crimson beaten the Tigers, Harvard would have gotten the Ivy auto-bid and Princeton would have been in the field as an at-large and pushed a team to the wrong side of the bubble. Alas, the Ivy will be a one-bid league, breaking a two-year streak of getting multiple teams into the field of 68.

Selection Sunday awaits. The official bracket will be unveiled at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Just four auto-bids are undecided and will be played out on Sunday: the Patriot League, the CAA, the NEC and the Missouri Valley. For our final bracket projection, we’re predicting the higher seed to win these games.
