Kentucky got crushed mercilessly on the glass against Florida

The Kentucky Wildcats are headed back to Lexington after back-to-back wins in the SEC Tournament. The Wildcats go down in the quarterfinals to the Florida Gators by a final score of 71-63, marking their third loss of the season to Todd Golden’s Gators.

The Wildcats had a terribly tough time keeping the Gators’ frontcourt off the glass, getting out-rebounded 50-29. A game where the Wildcats’ defense held strong against a scorching hot team, they were out-rebounded by 21. No Wildcat grabbed more than five boards.

The Gators tallied 18 offensive rebounds, while the Wildcats tallied 21 total boards. A whopping 21 second-chance points for the Gators also crushed any hope of a Kentucky win.

Gators big men, Alex Condon and Ruben Chinyelu, led the game with 10 rebounds apiece. They made easy work of the Wildcats’ bigs.

The Wildcats had Otega Oweh and Denzel Aberdeen leading the team with five rebounds, as well as Malachi Moreno, who didn’t play the final 10 minutes of the game due to leg soreness.

Just a disappointing effort on the glass in a game that came down to the final couple of minutes.

The Cats will depart Nashville with a 2-1 SEC Tournament record, winning two games for the first time since 2018. They will be awaiting a seed and a location in the NCAA Tournament bracket, which will be released at 6:00 PM ET on Sunday.
