The Oklahoma Sooners overcame a 13-point first-half deficit to beat the South Carolina Gamecocks 86-74. Oklahoma outscored the Gamecocks by 25 over the final 27 minutes of the game to advance.
The Sooners had four players in double figures, led by 24 points from Nijel Pack. Pack was 7 of 14 from the field and 5 of 10 from three. Derrion Reid had 20 points on 6 of 8 shooting and 2 of 3 from three. It was the second-most points scored in a game for Reid, and it came at a huge time for the Sooners. Tae Davis added 18 points, and Xzayvier Brown scored 14 on 6 of 7, his lone miss the last one that came as the Sooners were simply trying to run out the final seconds of the game.

The Sooners overcame a hot start from the Gamecocks, who were hitting threes at an incredible clip before the Oklahoma defense clamped things down over the final four minutes of the first half to rally and tie the game.
The Sooners carried that momentum into the second half and took over the contest. OU shot 53% from three in the second half and held the Gamecocks to 21.4% from three and just 38.7% from the field.
It was a huge boost to Oklahoma’s hopes of making the NCAA tournament. There’s more work to be done, but this is the first step to putting themselves on the right side of the bubble.
The Oklahoma Sooners will take on the No. 6 seed in the tournament, the Texas A&M Aggies on Thursday in the day’s final game. The game is scheduled to tip off 25 minutes after the close of Georgia vs. Ole Miss, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
