Tyler Perkins, Devin Askew Perkins earn 2026 Big East honors

Villanova was well-represented on the list of honors handed out by the Big East in 2025-26.

On Monday, the conference announced the individual awards for this season. Devin Askew was named the Big East Sixth Man of the Year while Tyler Perkins earned the title of the conference’s Most Improved Player.

Villanova ended a 24-7 season, with a 15-5 record in the Big East, on Saturday against Xavier. Perkins, who was also named Third Team All-Big East, led the Wildcats in scoring at 13.7 points per game. Perkins put up 15.2 points per game in conference play while also grabbing 6.2 rebounds per game.

Last season, Perkins appeared in 36 games for the Wildcats after transferring in from Penn. He averaged 6.7 points off the bench. This year, he took on a major role for the Wildcats on the offensive end.

The same can be said for Askew. After transferring in from Long Beach State, Askew quickly became a threat off the bench for Villanova. He averaged 10.7 points in conference play. He scored 10 or more points 13 times while making multiple three’s in 16 games. Askew finished the year with 63 made three-pointers.

Askew becomes the fourth Wildcat to win this award — joining Corey Fisher (2009), Josh Hart (2015), and Donte DiVincenzo (2018).

2026 Big East Individual Awards

There have been four awards announced by the conference thus far:

Big East Defensive Player of the Year: Zuby Ejiofor, St. John’s

Big East Most Improved Player: Tyler Perkins, Villanova

Big East Sixth Man Award: Devin Askew, Villanova

Big East Sportsmanship Award: Josh Dix, Creighton

The Big East will announce the remaining awards — Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete — on Wednesday during a press conference at 1:30pm at Madison Square Garden.
