Wisconsin basketball guard enters program record book in win vs Purdue

The Wisconsin Badgers capped off their 2025-26 Big Ten season with a monumental 97-93 win over No. 15 Purdue.

John Blackwell led all scorers with 25 points, though it was Nick Boyd who received a ton of attention. Boyd’s conference campaign came to an end with 415 points, which put him just two shy of Michael Finley’s 417-point season from 1992-93.

Those 415 points are good for the second-highest total in UW history, which is crazy to consider, knowing this team had John Tonje last season.

Boyd, who began his career at Florida Atlantic in 2020-21, spent three years with the Owls before transferring to San Diego State. His time with the Aztecs lasted just one year, as he decided to come to Wisconsin for his final year of eligibility.

The Badgers would’ve never had a chance to take down Purdue without Boyd’s stellar 8-of-13 shooting effort. He matched Blackwell’s total from the charity stripe, as both were 6-of-7.

Boyd’s time with Wisconsin is far from over, as he has both the Big Ten and NCAA Tournaments yet to play. Still, he finished the conference slate just two points shy of a program record.
