The Longhorns basketball men’s basketball team is slumping at the wrong time. Texas finished the regular season with an 88-85 overtime home loss to rival Oklahoma, a team theoretically farther down the NCAA Tournament picking order than UT.
Texas have lost four of their last five games and fall to the No. 10 seed in the SEC postseason tournament later this week. Sean Miller is now in serious jeopardy of missing March Madness in his first season on the Forty Acres.

Over the past month, Texas has gone from one of the first teams out of the tournament to an 88.3% chance to make it and were projected as a No. 8 seed. But those odds have taken a hit this week. UT were blown out by Arkansas and now have a bad loss to a team the selection committee will have expected Texas to win.
OU’s Nijel Pack scored 23 points and Xzayvier Brown added 21 points in the Sooners win. Oklahoma has been considered on the wrong side of the bubble, but this win should help their resume.
Texas held a 40-36 lead at the half, but couldn’t hold off the hot Sooners in the second half in front of a sell out Moody Center crowd.
Texas will now face No. 15 seed Mississippi on Wednesday in the SEC tournament at Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville, TN. The Longhorns will need to beat the Rebels and possibly one more game to build their resume back up to a tournament team.
It will be a nervous week for Longhorns fans. The bubble is back in play.
