Bold predictions in College Basketball this weekend

We have reached the final week of the regular season in power-conference college basketball. This is a great time of year – the mid-major conference tournaments are starting up, and we’re less than two weeks away from Selection Sunday. We also have the added element of Senior Days coming up this week. Crazy things happen on Senior days, and I am hoping that this weekend gives us a little amuse-bouche for the madness that is about to follow in the coming weeks! So, here are the bold predictions in College Basketball this weekend.

Texas Tech rolls into Provo and beats BYU in the battle of shorthanded teams

Texas Tech’s Christian Anderson shoots a 3-pointer against TCU during a Big 12 Conference men’s basketball game, Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in United Supermarkets Arena.

These two teams have dealt with two of the most impactful injuries in college basketball this season, as Texas Tech lost JT Toppin and BYU lost Richie Saunders for the season. Since those injuries, the teams have headed in opposite directions. Texas Tech is 3-1, BYU is 1-4. A big reason why is Christian Anderson ascending to be one of the best guards in the sport. I expect him to have a huge night as Tech pulls off the upset.

Ohio State beats Indiana by double digits in a “bubble battle”

For teams on the NCAA Tournament bubble, this is the last weekend to really make a statement before conference tournament play. For Ohio State and Indiana, two teams that sit squarely on the bubble, this could almost be viewed as an elimination game, as a loss grants a key win to your opponent. I think Ohio State’s athleticism poses a bad matchup to Indiana, and Bruce Thornton will show out and clinch his first NCAA Tournament berth as a Buckeye.
