No. 13-seed Indiana women’s basketball kept its season alive today in a remarkable 72-69 comeback win over No. 12-seed Nebraska in the first game of the Big Ten Tournament at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Things looked bleak when the Hoosiers entered the half down 45-28. All of Shay Ciezki, Lenee Beaumont and Maya Makalusky had picked up two fouls in the first 20 minutes of play as Indiana kept getting caught in bad situations with all of Nebraska’s ball movement.

The game was far from over as the Hoosiers held what was a searing offense to just 24 points in the second half as the Cornhuskers went cold from beyond the 3-point line. Indiana spread the ball around on offense, with all but one of the six Hoosiers who saw the floor in the second half putting points on the board.
Indiana found the opening it was looking for in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter. A 3-pointer from Lenee Beaumont gave the Hoosiers their first lead of the game at 68-67 with just 1:06 left to go. One whiffed pullup jumper from Nebraska’s Britt Prince and an uncontested layup from Shay Ciezki stretched that lead to three points. A putback from the Huskers and two free throws from Nevaeh Caffey gave the Hoosiers a 3-point lead they never relinquished as two last-ditch Nebraska 3s fell shy of the rim.
Indiana will take on No. 5-seed Ohio State tomorrow at around 2:30 p.m.
