Chad Baker-Mazara no longer with USC men’s basketball program

On Saturday, USC men’s basketball suffered a loss to Nebraska that effectively ended the team’s NCAA Tournament hopes. On Sunday, the news went from bad to worse for the Trojans with the stunning report that star Chad Baker-Mazara is no longer with the program.

“Chad Baker-Mazara is no longer a member of the USC Men’s Basketball program, the team announced Sunday,” the team wrote in a statement. “Baker-Mazara, a graduate student, appeared in 26 contests for the Trojans in 2025-26.

“USC has two regular-season games remaining, traveling to Washington on March 4 and hosting UCLA on March 7 before the start of the Big Ten Tournament next week.”

Baker-Mazara left Saturday’s game early in the second half with an injury and did not return. While Baker-Mazara had struggled to stay on the court this season, when he has been healthy, he has been the team’s leading scorer.

At this point, more details regarding Baker-Mazara’s situation have not been reported. We will see if head coach Eric Musselman has anything in addition to say about it in the coming days.
