ESPN predicts the winner of Alabama vs Tennessee in Knoxville

After barely breaking a sweat in a 100-75 rout of Mississippi State for their 10th straight win over the Bulldogs earlier in the week, Nate Oats’ Alabama Crimson Tide will look to snap a different when they visit Knoxville to face the Tennessee Volunteers on the next to last weekend on the SEC regular-season schedule.

Alabama (21-7 overall, 11-4 SEC), ranked No. 17 in the AP Top 25 poll and No. 18 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, exploded for 63 points in the first half of its dominant win over Mississippi State at Coleman Coliseum on Wednesday.

Even with star Labaron Philon out of the lineup, the Tide led by as many as 39 points and used big nights from several key players to put the game out to bed early. Freshman Amari Allen had 25 points and five rebounds while making six of seven 3-pointers. Latrell Wrightsell Jr. finished with 18 points and Aden Holloway had a strong night with 16.

Alabama made 10 3-pointers for the ninth consecutive game. The Crimson Tide have won seven straight contests since opening the month with a 100-77 blowout loss to the first-place Florida Gators in Gainesville.

Tennessee (20-8, 10-5) is not Mississippi State. While Alabama leads the Vols by one game in the SEC standings, coach Rick Barnes’ team has had the Crimson Tide’s number in recent years. The Volunteers have won five straight over Alabama going back to the Tide’s last victory in the series in December 2022.

That includes a 79-73 win at Coleman Coliseum back on Jan. 24 when Alabama had the benefit of playing with Charles Bediako. On that night, it ended up being a 19-year-old true freshman in Tennessee’s Nate Ament who stole the show with a season-high 29 points.
