Lefteris Mantzoukas no longer with Oklahoma State basketball team

STILLWATER — Hours before the Oklahoma State men’s basketball game against Kansas on Wednesday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena, the program announced that Lefteris Mantzoukas has left the team.

“Lefteris Mantzoukas has decided to withdraw from Oklahoma State University and will no longer be part of our basketball program as he focuses on his health,” OSU coach Steve Lutz said in a statement. “Lefty has been a tremendous teammate and person during his time in Stillwater and will be deeply missed.

“While we are disappointed to see him step away, we understand this was not an easy decision for him and those close to him.”

Mantzoukas, a 6-foot-9 wing from Greece, started multiple games early in the season, then missed several with an undisclosed injury. He returned in February and played in three of the last four games.

Over 12 total games, he averaged 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in his freshman season.

“We fully support Lefteris and wish him nothing but the very best as he continues to prioritize his health and well-being.”
