The major statline going into Saturday night’s game between the Nevada Wolf Pack and San Diego State Aztecs was 0-13. That was the road record against SDSU the Wolf Pack carried into Viejas Arena that night, having lost every single game to the Aztecs on the road since they joined the Mountain West in 2012. Since this was the final time Nevada would play SDSU in hostile territory as a conference opponent, the talk surrounding the game (especially in Nevada circles) was whether or not the program would finally notch a road conference win in Viejas before the Aztecs moved to the Pac-12.

This was not the case that night, as outside of the first few minutes of each half, Nevada was a shell of itself. Multiple 5+ minute scoring droughts, whispers from the bench at best, inconsistency from its top stars and inability to stop the Aztecs when the wind was behind them ultimately were part of the checklist that spelled disaster for the Pack, which now moves to 0-14 in Viejas.

First Half
Nevada got off to a hot start off the backs of guard Tayshawn Comer and forward Corey Camper Jr., as both made a three each in the first two minutes. The Aztecs kept up with a layup from forward Miles Heide and two free throws from guard Reese Dixon-Waters.

After the first two three-balls, the Pack got cold hands. San Diego State pulled ahead by five with a 7-0 run featuring threes, free throws and a second-chance jumper. Camper Jr. tried to start a run with another three-pointer and a jumper, but he and the rest of the Wolf Pack got cold with shots and passes, missing the next five shots and turning the ball over twice while SDSU forward Pharaoh Compton (six points) and guard Taj DeGourville (two points) regained the lead for the Aztecs.
