Quick Reaction: Indiana men’s basketball beats Oregon 92-74

After four consecutive games decided by six points or fewer – including an overtime and double overtime win – Indiana men’s basketball finally won comfortably. Darian DeVries, who’s career started as an assistant for Dana Altman, handed Altman his first 10-game losing streak of Altman’s long, storied career.

The Ducks came out looking for the upset, scoring the first six points of the game. DeVries drew up a shot for Nick Dorn on the opening possession, resulting in a clean look that Dorn missed. Between the miss and a relatively muted crowd, things looked ominous for the Hoosiers early.

Lamar Wilkerson started to see some shots go down late in the first half, leading the team with 16 points at the break. He was struggling from deep, though, going 2-6 from 3-point range, missing his first five shots from behind the arc. The rest of the team struggled with him, going 4-16 in the first half.

Despite the poor shooting, Indiana took a six point lead into the break, holding Nate Bittle to four points on 1-6 from the field.

The Hoosiers opened the second half with a nice play for Sam Alexis, who was a perfect 8-8 on field goals today, missing just one free throw as part of a 16 point performance. From there, Indiana started to light it up from the perimeter, running away from Oregon in the second half.

Wilkerson found his shot in the second half, going 4-6 from deep in 16 minutes on the floor. He finished with 41 points, his second game with more than 40 this year after his 44-point performance against Penn State.

Dorn got to the free throw line after being fouled on his first three of the half, making all three and finally seeing the ball go through the hoop. He made his next two 3-pointers and added another pair of free throws to end the night with 11 points.
