Illinois flying toward top of Big Ten men’s college basketball rankings

The Big Ten race got a shake-up this week, as Michigan State absorbed body blows at the expense of a direct and in-state rival.

Let’s see how the league stacks up heading into the thick of February.

Note: Records through Feb. 4 games.

1. Michigan (20-1, 10-1)

Wherever you fall on their late and burgeoning feud, the back and forth between Dusty May and Tom Izzo undeniably provides the Big Ten basketball climate with some welcome spice.

2. Illinois (20-3, 11-1)

Prev: 7

7. Iowa (17-5, 7-4)
