Michigan State basketball is known for having one of the best home-court advantages in college basketball. However, Spartan fans can attest that they can, at times, start slow in first halves, as we saw in their last game against Michigan, only to come back in the second half and put the opponent away. Former Iowa big man Luka Garza, who had some major battles against MSU in his college days, has posited a unique conspiracy theory this week, claiming that this second-half dominance is the result of something more nefarious.
On the White Noise Podcast with Derrick White, Garza said that his conspiracy theory is that the Breslin Center has one bad rim, and MSU always chooses to start on that side, and then get to shoot into the better rim in the second half where they ultimately take control and win.
I’m not sure about that one, but I can say it would explain the Spartans’ routinely slow starts.
