Wisconsin bench guard Braeden Carrington made his presence felt in the Badgers’ 98-71 victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions Thursday.
Carrington, who transferred to Madison, Wisconsin, following his junior campaign at Tulsa, tallied 17 points and four rebounds in just 16 minutes off the bench en route to the 27-point win. The Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, native did so off a 5-of-7 shooting mark from the field, including a 4-of-6 clip from beyond the arc.

All 17 of Carrington’s points arrived in the first half, which saw the Badgers rise to a 50-22 edge. The Nittany Lions mustered 49 second-half points, but it was too little, too late.
Including Carrington, a total of five Badgers finished the game with at least 10 points. Star guard John Blackwell added 17 points and five assists, veteran center Nolan Winter snared 10 boards to go along with his 13 points, and Boyd and Austin Rapp combined for 21 tallies.
Carrington’s hot hand from outside shouldn’t catch Badger fans by surprise. Over the last four contests, he’s averaged 14 points off 50% from 3-point range.
On the season, Carrington is accountable for 7.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in over 14 minutes per game. Wisconsin will square off next against the USC Trojans in Madison on Jan. 25.
