While there were many doubts and unknowns surrounding the direction of the Texas A&M men’s basketball program entering the 2025-26 campaign, the success of “Bucky Ball” has quickly quieted those negative narratives.
When first-year head coach Bucky McMillan arrived on campus in the spring, there was one scholarship player left on the roster. So how did McMillan find the talent that has led the Aggies to a 14-4 overall record and 4-1 mark in SEC play?

The pitch was fairly simple: the opportunity to compete in one of the nation’s most talented conferences while playing in one of the fastest-paced, most explosive offensive systems in college basketball. Transfer portal additions like Spanish guard Rubén Dominguez and former Creighton guard Pop Isaacs, along with returning graduate forward Rashaun Agee, have each made an impact and helped fuel the Aggies’ success.
Those pieces have come together like a neatly assembled puzzle for McMillan and his staff, as Texas A&M finds itself projected as a potential postseason team if its success continues through the remainder of conference play. That momentum will be tested Wednesday night against another fiery SEC opponent featuring one of the nation’s most talented guards.
Josh Hubbard and the Mississippi State Bulldogs will visit Bryan-College Station, Texas, for a matchup against Texas A&M at Reed Arena. Chris Jans’ squad has struggled at times with depth this season, but there is still plenty of fight left in the Bulldogs, especially with a dangerous shooter like Hubbard, who is averaging 22.3 points per contest.
