If there was any lingering doubt that the Red Storm were a serious Big East contender, that was laid to rest on Saturday night. St. John’s bested Villanova on the road by a score of 86-79 to claim their fourth straight victory and sole possession of second place in the conference.
After a back-and-forth first half in which St. John’s closed with a narrow 36-35 advantage, the Red Storm blitzed Villanova with a 13-0 run early in the second half to build their largest lead of the game of 56-39.

The Red Storm’s star big man tallied 17 points and seven rebounds in a season-high 37 minutes played.
