Incredible Buffs comeback falls just short against #14 Texas Tech

Tad Boyle and the Colorado Buffaloes had themselves an evening on Saturday. In one of the crazier games this program has played in recent memory, the Buffs fell into a 24-point deficit to the #14 Texas Tech Red Raiders before clawing back to almost clench victory from the jaws of defeat, losing by a final score of 73-71.

Down 43-27 at halftime, Tad Boyle did exactly the same thing he’s done in the second half this year: turn to freshman sixth-man Isaiah Johnson. Johnson came in to start the second period in an attempt to slow CU’s bleeding, but it didn’t help immediately. After continuing their offensive onslaught, Tech extended its lead to 24 points with around 14 minutes to play.

Whether it was due to the high elevation or their massive lead, Tech began to get sloppy. Lazy fouls and turnovers began to plague the Red Raiders, and the Buffs capitalized. Johnson specifically took full advantage…
