Arizona stands at 15-0 on the season, and are 2-0 in Big 12 play to start conference play. A big reason why the Wildcats have not lost is because of their star-studded freshmen.
Led by Koa Peat, who scored 30 points against the defending national champion Florida Gators in the season opener, he has become a household name in Tucson.

Right behind him was Brayden Burries, but a rough start to the season derailed the “hype” around his name. Only averaging 7.8 points in the first five nonconference games, that average has skyrocketed to 17.9 points in the final eight nonconference games.
The freshman from San Bernardino, California may have taken awhile to adjust to the pace of college basketball. Now, he is beating defenders down the court in the blink of an eye.

It may have taken a trip to Birmingham for Burries to find his game, but a fire sure was lit inside of him against Alabama. Burries scored a season high 28 points while going 11-19 and 5-10 from three.

“I told him you got through a rough stretch, you had a good stretch, and now this January should be maybe the most significant jump maybe you make in your young basketball career should be this month, based off having positive and negative experiences,” said Lloyd.
Of course scoring is a big part of Burries game, but in typical Tommy Lloyd fashion, he challenged his young guard to better his overall game.
