Where Wisconsin ranks in KenPom, ESPN’s BPI after Central Michigan win

Wisconsin basketball added an important tally to the win column on Monday night, as it defeated Central Michigan 88-61.

The Badgers’ frontcourt led the winning effort; forwards Nolan Winter and Austin Rapp combined for 36 points, 15 rebounds and three assists, while shooting a combined 13-of-19 from the field and 5-of-10 from 3. Veteran guard Nick Boyd also added 12 points and four rebounds. The team notably delivered the 27-point triumph without star guard John Blackwell, who was sidelined due to an injury.

The result snapped Wisconsin’s ongoing two-game losing streak, plus halted its extended 3-4 stretch dating back to its loss to BYU on Nov. 21. While Central Michigan, which is now 2-9 on the season, sits at No. 326 and No. 330 in KenPom and the NCAA NET, respectively, the win was an important one for Greg Gard’s team. It is in desperate need of momentum, with Big Ten play set to heat up in under two weeks.

Before the Badgers wrap up their nonconference schedule with a home matchup against UW-Milwaukee on Dec. 30, here is where the team sits in KenPom and ESPN’s Basketball Power Index.
