The High Score 100 — the top-100 players in Yahoo’s newest fantasy basketball format — is a running reflection of year-to-date performance and trending production. Each weekly update captures who’s actually delivering value and who’s fading.

Here’s a breakdown of the biggest risers and fallers through the eighth week of fantasy basketball — with the complete High Score 100 at the bottom of the article. I’ll be updating my rankings every Tuesday throughout the fantasy basketball season.

Cooper Flagg – G/FC, Dallas Mavericks: 40th overall (⬆️ 12)

The 18-year-old rookie has been on a tear over the last two weeks, averaging 24.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 2.2 stocks while shooting 54% from the floor and 82% from the line. He’s coming off a historical performance on Monday, where he became the youngest player to score 40 points in a game (he scored 42) and amassed 70 fantasy points in High Score.

How did he do it?

Flagg was in attack mode all night, going to the line 20 times! With his size and athleticism, that could unlock more scoring potential for the dynamic rookie in the future. He’s been over 40 fantasy points in six of his last 10 outings, a trend that could stick the more Dallas leans into Flagg as the top scoring option.

Russell Westbrook – G, Sacramento Kings: 53rd overall (⬆️ 8)

Vintage Russ was on full display in Week 8, finishing as the highest-scoring guard in High Score with 73 fantasy points. Westbrook moves up eight spots because of that gawdy 24-12-14 triple-double, but also, he’s 30th overall over the last two weeks, averaging 45.8 fantasy points per game. Of all the vets in Sacramento, Russ’ value has been impacted the least in High Score because he still generates so many fantasy points from his rebounding and assists without being penalized for turnovers or inefficiency. As long as the minutes hold and he’s not traded, he’s a plug-and-play option with top-50 upside.
