Indiana women’s basketball has lost a starter, as Valentyna Kadlecova has decided to return to her native Czech Republic to play professionally.
Kadlecova, a 6-foot sophomore, appeared in 11 games, averaging 21.7 minutes and 5.4 points per game. She was benched out of the starting lineup in Thursday’s win over Louisiana-Monroe in favor of freshman and reigning Indiana Miss Basketball Maya Makalusky, who had a career game. Kadlecova then was out for Sunday’s win over Eastern Michigan for personal reasons.

“This was a decision Valentyna made with careful consideration, and we wish her the best in her next chapter,” Hoosiers coach Teri Moren said in a statement.
