Mississippi State basketball star Josh Hubbard exited the Dec. 7 game against San Francisco with an injury and did not return.
The Bulldogs (4-5) lost 65-62 at Cadence Bank Arena in Tupelo.
“I have no idea what the injury is,” MSU coach Chris Jans said in his postgame radio interview. “I assume some sort of ankle sprain, but I haven’t seen the film or talked to the trainer yet.”

Hubbard was running backward near midcourt when his foot clipped teammate Shawn Jones Jr. He immediately fell to the floor and grabbed his right ankle.
The junior guard returned to the bench later in the first half but had his ankle wrapped in ice.
MSU led the game 63-62 with 24 seconds remaining until San Francisco’s Mookie Cook knocked down two free throws with eight seconds left. Then, Jones turned the ball over on an inbounds pass that led to a San Francisco dunk. Jayden Epps, who scored 21 points, missed a contested game-tying 3-point shot at the buzzer.
MSU plays at Utah (7-3) on Dec. 13 (9 p.m. CT, ESPNU).
