Alabama star Labaron Philon Jr. named SEC player of the week

Star Alabama guard Labaron Philon Jr. has officially been named as the SEC player of the week for the third time this season.

Philon has been nothing short of elite throughout the first nine games of play. The talented sophomore is currently averaging 21.4 points per game while shooting an impressive 56.6% from the field, as Philon has continued to play a massive role in the Crimson Tide’s success in 2025. The Alabama native is currently shooting 40.4% from behind the arc as well, and Philon will more than likely be an x-factor during the Tide’s upcoming clash with No. 1 ranked Arizona on Saturday.

Philon has been widely regarded as one of the top players in all of college basketball to begin the 2025-26 campaign. The dynamic guard was projected to be a late first round pick in last year’s NBA draft, but Philon ultimately chose to return to Tuscaloosa for his sophomore year. The star guard finds himself as the SEC player of the week for a third time this season, as Philon continues to improve on a nightly basis.

The Tide will face the Arizona Wildcats in what should be a thrilling, back and forth matchup on Saturday night.
