Kentucky basketball’s offense will get a major boost Friday night in Nashville, as Jaland Lowe is expected to play after missing the previous five games with a shoulder injury.
It’s been a tough start for the transfer point guard from Pittsburgh. Lowe injured his shoulder initially on October 17th in the Blue-White Scrimmage. Trainers popped his shoulder back into place, and he only missed both exhibition games and the regular-season opener.

Following Kentucky’s loss to Louisville on Veterans’ Day (Nov. 11th), Lowe reinjured his shoulder in practice later that week. After seeking multiple opinions and weighing all options, Lowe is back and will be on the floor tonight when the Wildcats take on Gonzaga.
This is a huge boost for the Wildcats, who struggled offensively in both games against Power Four opponents Lowe didn’t play against. That includes a dismal 1/13 3-point shooting performance Tuesday night against North Carolina.
In the two games Lowe did play for UK, the 6-foot-1 point guard averaged 7.5 points and five assists in 23.5 minutes per outing. He will be a welcome addition to Kentucky’s backcourt, especially against a talented Gonzaga squad. Tipoff tonight in Nashville is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
