ACC Roundup – Notre Dame Wins, Loses Against TCU

In Friday’s ACC Action, only one game but a good one as Notre Dame took out TCU in overtime, 87-85.

Honestly, when TCU went into the half up 45-36, given Notre Dame’s recent history, we thought they were cooked.

Didn’t happen, as it turned out, and a freshman, Jalen Haralson, was the difference maker.

Haralson, who is averaging 13.1 ppg and shooting well at 51.3% (no threes on the season so far), put the game in regulation at 76-76- then scored 6 of Notre Dame’s 11 points in OT.

He also had 9 assists, which is pretty good for anyone, much less a freshman forward.

Cole Certa heated up in the second, hitting 4 three pointers and helping the Irish rip off a 17-4 run.

Potentially bad news for the Irish though as Markus Burton was limited to 10 minutes due to a leg injury. No word yet but it didn’t look good.

Notre Dame is now 7-3 but another significant injury to Burton, who missed a lot of last season, would be a terrible blow.

It’s a busy Saturday around the league as Georgia Tech hosts Monmouth, New Haven visits BC, Dayton and Virginia tangle in Charlotte, Southern Miss visits Miami, UNC-Asheville visits NC State, Louisville and Indiana meet after each lost their first game, Virginia Tech takes on George Mason in Cassell and Cal hosts Pacific, where Georgia Tech’s Damon Stoudamire got his first head coaching job.

The best game (other than Duke-Michigan State) is almost certain Louisville at Indiana, but Dayton-Virginia could be good too.
