NC State fans came into the season with high expectations. Seven games in, the Wolfpack has beaten the five mid-major conference teams they have played and lost to the two from the Big East and SEC.

The defense isn’t working and has been getting a great deal of attention in the days leading up to this game. We should expect to see something different – either the same scheme played better, or a scheme change. Will it be enough? Stay tuned.

Then on the 22nd, Coach Bruce Pearl decided it was time to retire. As is becoming fashionable in college coaching, the timing of his departure allowed him to keep his players and crown his successor, his 38-year-old son, assistant Coach Steven Pearl.
