Louisville basketball’s 106-81 win over Ohio on Saturday at the KFC Yum! Center showed why the Cardinals don’t have to have a stifling defense like they did last season.
The Cards can overwhelm opponents with offense to the point where, as was the case with the Bobcats, they just can’t keep up.

With eight minutes left, Ohio, metrically speaking, had the kind of numbers that would suggest a potential upset for the road team. They were scoring 1.10 points per possession with an effective field-goal percentage of 53.
Yet U of L was leading 87-69.
That’s how good the Cards offense is, as backed up by being ranked No. 2 nationally in adjusted offensive efficiency at KenPom.com.
Six players scored in double figures against the Bobcats, led by Ryan Conwell and Mikel Brown Jr. Conwell scored a team-high 22, and Brown added 19. The Cards made a season-high 16 3-pointers and also shot a season-high 45.7% from behind the arc.

Oh, and Ohio got the same treatment South Carolina State, Jackson State and UK received, as the Cards scored more than 50 points on them in the first half.
