Nebraska basketball landed a commitment from Iowa Hawkeyes forward Pryce Sandfort on Friday. He made the announcement on social media.

Nebraska basketball hasn’t been that busy in the transfer portal, but Sandfort is the first domino to fall. He played in 33 games with two starts last season for Iowa. He averaged 8.8 points, shot 48.8%, and recorded 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Perhaps most notable out of his numbers was that he shot 40% from three-point range.

He also managed to play at a high level against Nebraska. He averaged 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games against the Huskers this season. This is undoubtedly a big get for the program as the Huskers look to add shooting to the roster. That was one of the goals for Nebraska basketball coach Fred Hoiberg heading into the offseason, and Sandfort is undoubtedly a step in the right direction.

The program still has more work to do, but this is a solid start.

Nebraska retakes the floor on Wednesday night when the Huskers play the Georgetown Hoyas. The tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. CT and can be seen on Fox.
