GCU basketball coach Bryce Drew thanks players after WAC title win
Grand Canyon men’s basketball coach Bryce Drew praised his players after the Lopes’ 2025 WAC Tournament championship win over Utah Valley.
Grand Canyon basketball has received a commitment from Gonzaga Bulldogs shooting guard Dusty Stromer in the transfer portal.
Stromer posted his commitment on Instagram Wednesday, as the incoming true junior joins a Lopes program that is coming off three straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
Stromer is a four-star transfer portal prospect (all transfer/recruiting ratings and rankings per 247Sports) and the No. 27 shooting guard prospect in the portal. Coming to Phoenix as the No. 101 overall portal prospect, he played in at least 34 games in each of his seasons at Gonzaga. He played in all but one game in his entire Gonzaga career.
Stromer shot 35.1% from deep across his two seasons at Gonzaga (2.5 attempts per game on 20.5 minutes per game) and 80.3% from the free-throw line (0.9 attempts per game).
All three of GCU’s starting guards this season are out of eligibility, meaning the Lopes needed a guard.
Stromer plays that position of need, and also came into the college game as a small forward recruit out of Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California. A four-star prospect out of the prep ranks, Stromer was the No. 12 small forward recruit in the nation and the No. 62 overall recruit in the nation.
Stromer and Gonzaga made the Sweet 16 last season, and they won their opening-round game this season in the NCAA Tournament before falling to Houston, 81-76.
