Duke Deen has signed a contract to play professional basketball in Germany, his agent announced on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old Bradley basketball star earned a one-year deal with a one-year option from the Frankfurt Skyliners of Basketball Bundesliga, the top professional league in Germany.
“In addition to his basketball skills, Duke stands out for his positive charisma and outgoing nature, coupled with a strong work ethic,” Skyliners coach Klaus Perwas said in a release. “He brings many qualities that aren’t easily reflected in a stat sheet.”
The Skyliners roster also includes guard Marcus Domask, who last season helped Illinois to the NCAA Elite Eight.
Deen built a storied legacy, finishing with the most made 3-pointers in Bradley history (269) and 11th-most assists (374) while earning all-MVC first-team honors and serving as the heartbeat of a 28-win team.
He scored 1,322 points in 107 games over just three seasons, and led the Braves to two MVC Tournament championship games and three NIT appearances. In his final season he delivered a team-best 13.5 ppg, made 111 3-pointers, had 140 assists and shot 39.4% from 3 for the nation’s No. 1 3-point shooting team.
Deen on Tuesday left a message behind on social media, writing, in part:
“… The loyalty, passion and pride that the 309 has is unmatched,” Deen wrote. “I will miss every one of your cheers and chants in Carver Arena but I will never forget.”
