Iowa point guard Aaliyah Guyton enters NCAA transfer portal

The NCAA Transfer Portal gives and the NCAA Transfer Portal takes. For every success a team receives from the portal, they will see a key departure elsewhere.

The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team is experiencing life on both ends of the spectrum. This past season, they reaped the portal rewards, bringing Lucy Olsen in from Villanova and getting an All-Big Ten performance from her.

The other side of things sees highly talented players departing the program. Talia Goodman of On3 has reported that Iowa Hawkeyes point guard Aaliyah Guyton has entered the transfer portal after just one season in Iowa City.

The news comes on the heels of the Hawkeyes hosting Jada Williams, the Arizona Wildcats guard, on a visit.

Guyton, the product of Peoria High School in Peoria, Illinois, was the No. 58 player in the class of 2024 rankings and was viewed as a four-star recruit per ESPN.

Aaliyah Guyton appeared in 29 games for the Hawkeyes during her freshman season. She averaged 16.4 minutes per game, 4.7 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. She shot 37.5% from the field and 37.3% from three-point range.

The move leaves Iowa with Kylie Feuerbach, Kennise Johnson, Callie Levin, Teagan Mellegni, Taylor McCabe, and Taylor Stremlow as the current rostered guards.
