FSU men’s basketball head coach Luke Loucks talks first 10 days of new role
The transfer portal is heating up in the basketball world. Florida State men’s basketball coach Luke Loucks is building his roster and identifying talents that fit his system.
While he has already signed two players in his 2025 class in Kobe MaGee from Drexel and LaJae Jones of St. Bonaventure, Loucks still has to replace 10 players who are out of eligibility or have entered the transfer portal.
Taylor Bol Bowen and Chander Jackson are notable players who have entered the portal. FSU’s top scorer, Jamir Watkins, plans to pursue the NBA after completing his final year at FSU.
FSU finished Leonard Hamilton’s final tenure at 17-15, 8-12.

Malique Ewin is the next Seminole who will be testing the transfer portal after having a career season. Ewin was FSU’s second-best scorer, averaging 14.2 points and 7.6 rebounds a game. He also led the ACC with a 59.6 field-goal percentage.
Ewin was well-known for his gifted traits, such as ball handling, passing, and athleticism. With him now in the portal, he is likely to receive interest from power-four teams looking for an athletic big man.
Prior to FSU, Ewin was the No. 1 JUCO player. His first college season began at Ole Miss, where he was a blue-chip prospect out of Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Freshman guard Daquan Davis is the latest Seminole to enter the transfer portal. The Baltimore native started 20 of the 31 games played in his first year.
The former five-star prospect was FSU’s third-leading scorer, averaging 8.8 points a game. He also shot 36.1 percent from the field and was ranked No. 9 in the ACC with an 82.6 free-throw percentage.
With Davis in the portal, FSU has now lost four of its five starters from the 2024-25…
