Tennessee basketball is heading into an offseason that’ll feature major roster movement.
The Vols and coach Rick Barnes are restarting the roster for his 11th season after losing seven seniors, including key figures Zakai Zeigler and Jahmai Mashack after UT lost 69-50 to Houston in the Elite Eight on Sunday in Indianapolis.
Here is what to know about Tennessee’s roster for the 2025-26 season:
Who is gone from Tennessee basketball?
For the second straight season, the Vols are losing staples of the program and scoring.
Zeigler and Mashack exit after tremendous four-year careers. The Vols were ranked through their entire time at UT. Zeigler leaves holding the program records for assists and steals. Both have been elite pieces of Tennessee’s defense.
Chaz Lanier followed in Dalton Knecht’s shoes as a one-year scoring sensation.
Jordan Gainey had a great two-year run at UT, including a senior season that proved why the Vols brought him in from USC Upstate. Igor Milicic Jr. and Darlinstone Dubar also depart after one season at Tennessee. Milicic had an inconsistent season but was a valuable rebounder and floor spacer at his best. Dubar never fully ascended into a role amid a difficult season.
Who is back for Tennessee basketball in 2025-26?
The Vols return three important players in the post as the backbone of the 2025-26 roster.
Felix Okpara is the starting center after a solid first season at Tennessee. He is an All-SEC defender at the rim. Cade Phillips complemented Okpara well as a sophomore. J.P. Estrella returns after missing the bulk of the season following foot surgery. He will be counted on to take a leap.
Bishop Boswell is the lone returning guard. He had a minor role as a freshman.
