Arkansas basketball’s first season under the stewardship of John Calipari is over, and now it’s time to watch one of the best recruiters in college basketball history attack the offseason.
A March turnaround for the Razorbacks culminated with an 85-83 overtime loss to Texas Tech in the Sweet 16 and a 22-14 season. Only two players who logged meaningful minutes from this year’s teams are out of eligibility. The Razorbacks have three incoming freshmen signed and an international prospect — Karim Rtail — committed to join next year’s team, although there has been no official announcement from the university about Rtail.
Last year, Calipari had zero players on the roster when he went to work in the transfer portal. He was able to bring three players from Kentucky to Arkansas and make two giant splashes in the portal with Johnell Davis and Jonas Aidoo.
This time, there is a bigger foundation, but that could cause some tough decisions for the roster. The transfer portal opened Monday, March 23 and will close on April 22.

Guard Casmir Chavis
Chavis played in just one game for the Razorbacks this season. He originally signed with Washington before being released from his letter of intent and coming to Fayetteville. The 247Sports Composite ranked Chavis as the No. 186 player in the country in the 2024 class.
