Much like the University of Cincinnati Bearcats football team has had a general manager since the arrival of head coach Scott Satterfield, the Cincinnati Bearcats men’s basketball squad is following suit.
Coach Wes Miller has added long-time acquaintance Corey Evans to the fold to direct UC’s basketball personnel efforts. The 34-year-old Evans comes from the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder where he served as Amateur Evaluation Scout/Identification and Intelligence.
The Thunder currently lead the NBA Eastern Conference.
Before joining Oklahoma City in 2020, he was a national evaluator for Rivals.com where he was named one of the Top 100 most influential people in the recruiting game. In an article written by now-ESPN insider Pete Thamel for Yahoo Sports at the time, Evans was described as “a tireless worker, sleeping in his car outside high school events early on in his career.”
Evans was at Rivals from 2017-2020. The former Old Dominion Sports Management graduate also was a manager/video coordinator for Monarchs basketball between 2002-2011 according to his LinkedIn account and started the Roundball Rundown scouting service in 2012. He also has experience working with the Xavier and Duquesne basketball programs and a plethora of AAU experience.
Many schools are adopting or are already using the general manager/NBA model including BYU, Texas Tech and Baylor of the Big 12.
