Tom Izzo is not satisfied yet — he wants to hang another banner in the Breslin Center rafters

“We don’t put up banners for great eights. We put up banners for championships.”

That was the message from Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo following the Spartans’ victory over Ole Miss on Friday night to advance to the Elite Eight against Auburn on Sunday. The comment from Izzo was a simple statement that Michigan State is not satisfied with just reaching the Elite Eight and needing at least one more win to hang a banner.

The Spartans once again overcame a double-digit deficit to beat the Rebels in thrilling fashion on Friday night. Michigan State was led by star freshman Jase Richardson, who finished the game with 20 points.

Michigan State will now face top overall seed Auburn in the Elite Eight on Sunday. Tipoff between the Spartans and Tigers is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. ET.
