Xavier will play Iowa on the road at Carver-Hawkeye Arena next season, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.
Xavier and Iowa agreed to a home-and-home series prior to naming new head coaches this week, Rothstein said in his report Wednesday.
Xavier announced the hiring of New Mexico’s Rick Pitino on Tuesday night. Earlier that day, Ben McCollum, who led Drake to the NCAA Tournament this season, was introduced as the next head coach at Iowa.
Xavier will host Iowa at Cintas Center during the 2026-27 season.
Iowa fired longtime head coach Fran McCaffery March 14 after missing the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight season. The Hawkeyes finished 17-16 overall and lost in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament to Illinois, which would go on to end Xavier’s season in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Xavier is 1-2 all-time against Iowa. The Hawkeyes won the last meeting over the Musketeers, 77-74, in overtime of the 2013 Battle 4 Atlantis quarterfinals in Nassau, Bahamas.
