NORMAN — The college basketball transfer portal season has started.
With Oklahoma’s season over after falling to UConn in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, focus now turns to the offseason. Sooners head coach Porter Moser’s name has been floated as a candidate for Villanova’s open head coaching job but that hasn’t stopped OU from beginning to recruit the portal.
The portal officially opened on March 24, but players have been announcing their intentions to enter the portal since the regular season concluded.
The portal remains open until April 22.
Here’s a look at OU basketball’s offseason roster movement:
OU basketball portal departures
Luke Northweather, forward
Luke Northweather appeared in 30 games this season and averaged 2.7 points.
The former Gatorade Missouri Boys Basketball Player of the Year who averaged nearly 30 points per game at Blair Oaks High School in Jefferson City, Missouri, was utilized as a three-point threat the past two seasons but never quite lived up to his promise in a Sooners uniform.
Yaya Keita, forward
After playing close to seven minutes per game as a freshman at Missouri, Yaya Keita appeared in just 13 games in three seasons at OU.
The last game Keita played for the Sooners was when he recorded two minutes against TCU in the Big 12 Tournament on March 13, 2024.
