What we learned from Michigan State separating from Bryant in Round 1
How Michigan State separated from an athletic Bryant team for an 87-62 blowout in first round of March Madness, Friday, March 21, 2025 in Cleveland.
Well, at least it’s not as late as Friday’s start, right, Tom Izzo?
Michigan State basketball will play New Mexico on Sunday in Cleveland in the second round of the NCAA tournament after comfortably beating Bryant in March Madness, but when Izzo found out about the start time against the Lobos, he couldn’t hide his dismay.
The Spartans will play New Mexico at 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, another late start after MSU tipped off vs. Bryant at 10 p.m. on Friday.

In Izzo’s postgame press conference, the tip time for Sunday’s game was announced and as he heard the news, his face said it all.
The Hall of Fame coach closed his eyes in disgust and then put his head in his hands in an all-too-relatable reaction.
“What time is that game?” Izzo quipped.
“8:40, breaking news,” the person who was making the announcements off camera said.
“I guess it’s an hour earlier,” Izzo said defeatedly, referencing Friday night’s 10 p.m. start time.
Small victories, Tom. Small victories.
