The No. 16 Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers defeated American University 83-72 on Wednesday to advance to the First Round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament where they’ll meet No. 1 seed Duke University on Friday. Duke are favored in the tournament, though freshman Cooper Flagg’s recent ankle sprain, which has kept him on the bench for the past two games, could have consequences for them during the tournament. The Blue Devils earned the ACC title despite injuries for both Flagg and Maliq Brown, who remains out indefinitely.
